Severance Agreements Should be Reviewed by an Attorney

July 11, 2016

You plan to stay and your current employer for life.  Unfortunately, sometimes those plans do not work out.  When they do not, employers sometimes offer Severance Agreements.  In a Severance Agreement, you are offered some consideration (money) usually in exchange for you signing a release.  This means should you sign the Severance Agreement, you are waiving any challenge to the termination decision in exchange for the consideration offered in the Agreement.  Employers have attorneys draft their Severance Agreements.  So, it only makes sense to have your Severance Agreement reviewed by an attorney to make sure your rights are protected and properly explained to you.  If you have questions regarding Severance Agreements, contact your Tampa Employment Lawyer, Darren D.
