President Considering Expanding Overtime Pay Requirements

March 14, 2014

The President is considering an Executive Order that will expand overtime pay to lower paid salary workers, such as supervisors in fast food restaurants.  Now, if a supervisor meets certain exemption requirements and is paid $455.00 a week in salary, that employee is exempt from overtime.  The President is considering changing the minimum salary threshold.  Thus, employers will either have to pay overtime to the previously exempted employees or increase their salary.  If you have any wage and hour questions, please contact your Tampa Employment Lawyer, Darren McClain.
