Despite League Diversity Attempts, NFL Hiring of Minority First Time Coaches is at a Low

July 20, 2016

The NFL has instituted many policies to encourage its teams to interview and hire minority coaching candidates.  Despite these policies, during the last 5 hiring cycles only one minority first time head coach was hired, Todd Bowles with the New York Jets.  Out of 85 offensive coordinators, quarterback and quality control coaches, 80 are white.  Thus, it seems clear that the NFL still has a lot of work to do to ensure diversity in its workplace.  If you have employment law questions, please contact your Tampa Employment Lawyer, Darren McClain.
