Trump Adminstration to Reverse Guidance Regarding Transgender Restroom Use in Public Schools

The Trump administration has singled that it will reverse Department of Education guidance regarding transgender restroom use in public restrooms.  The Obama administration issued guidance  stating that transgender individuals should be able to use the restroom that conforms with their gender identity, not the sex on their birth certificates.  Trump has indicated that this is an issue that the States should decide.  However, it widely seen as a step back in the fight for LBGT rights.  Ultimately, courts are likely to weigh in to determine to what extent federal law protects LBGT individuals.  If you have an employment law question, contact Tampa’s Employment Lawyer, Darren D.
